3 STEPS TO PROTECT
No Mess. Just place a Boveda in Your Humidor.
Place Boveda in your humidor right on top of your cigars or use a Boveda Holder. If your Boveda is wrapped in a clear overwrap, remove the overwrap first before putting Boveda in your humidor. Boveda is FDA compliant food safe.
No Worries. Simply Close The Lid.
Boveda will begin working immediately to precisely stabilize the humidity levels in the humidor.
Know with confidence that your collection is protected. Enjoy the perfect smoke, every time.
You Can Never Use Too Many Boveda
If you put too many Boveda in your humidor or buy a size bigger than your needs, no worries. The more Boveda you use, the longer it will last. Just do not use different RHs at the same time in your humidor.
3 Things You Should Know About Using Boveda
When it’s dry and cripsy, it’s time to replace.
When Boveda is completely dry, it will turn into a solid wafer. You’ll want to replace them right before the point when there are only a few spots left.
The more you use, the longer it lasts.
Adding more than the minimum amount of humidity control packs as recommended by Boveda is perfectly ok, and in some cases, even required when factoring dry climates, seasonality, or very leaky storage containers.
The more you expose it to air, the harder it has to work.
If your Boveda is being depleted quickly (less than 2 months) then you know that Boveda is working extra hard to keep that environment stable. The solution is to verify that your humidor doesn’t need to be re-seasoned, or to add more Boveda packs.
Boveda makes it effortless.
Boveda’s patented 2-way humidity control continually responds to ambient conditions by adding or removing moisture to affect the enclosed environment and deliver the predetermined RH (relative humidity) level printed on the pack.
What is inside Boveda?
Each Boveda consists of a specially prepared saturated solution of pure water and natural salts. This saturated solution is contained within a patented water-vapor permeable “reverse osmosis” membrane.
Boveda humidity packs provide the cleanest and most purified humidity of all other products available on the market today.
All Boveda products are maintenance-free and require no activation.

What Boveda RH do I need for tobacco?
65% RH — For Cuban cigars because Cuban cigars are tightly bound and tend to mold at a higher RH level. We recommend this RH for long-term storage of oily tobacco commonly found in Puro cigars from one territory.69% RH (Most popular RH for premium cigars) — For cigars in airtight humidors, including but not exclusively for Boveda Humidor Bags, Boveda Acrylic Humidors, polymer travel humidors. Also best for high-end humidors, including but not exclusively Elie Bleu and Daniel Marshall.72% RH—For cigars in most wood humidors, glass top humidors and non-polymer travel humidors. Since wood humidors exchange moisture, it’s not uncommon to see a decrease of 2–5%RH. The 72% accommodates and even compensates for the moisture loss allowing the humidor to maintain a sought-after high 60s RH level.75% RH — For cigars in drafty humidors and extreme environments, the 75% accommodates a high amount of moisture loss allowing the humidor to maintain a high 60s RH level. Also recommended for humidors housed at high altitudes and in desert-like conditions (use at your own discretion).84% RH — ONLY use to precondition (orseason) a wood humidor WITHOUT cigars in it. This formula is specifically designed to provide moisture directly to the cellular structure of the wood humidor during the seasoning process. Once you’ve seasoned with Boveda, your humidor is primed for your most treasured cigars.GOOD TO KNOW:
- Don’t mix RH levelswithin the same humidor.
- Don’t use Boveda in the same humidor with other humidification products because they will fight against each other and reduce the efficiency of Boveda.
- It’s common that the actual RH of your humidor will stabilize up to 5 points lower than the Boveda RH you’re using because of humidor quality and ambient dryness. All Boveda are accurate to +/- 2% of the RH printed on the pack in an airtight environment. Ideal RH for cigars can range from 60%-72% depending on your cigar inventory.

Can I recharge Boveda?
If you’re looking for optimal protection, then Boveda recommends you don’t recharge exhausted packs. Why? Well, primarily, because Boveda will no longer reach exact precision. Using a rehydrated Boveda means you run the risk of doing damage to the products you’re trying to protect with mold or extreme humidity fluctuations. Moreover, depleted packs can, on occasion, contain sharp crystallized salt residue that can penetrate the pack’s inner membrane and cause leaks once hydrated. If that were to happen, it would damage your products. We’d like to see you get the most out of your passion, so please do not reuse Boveda once it’s done it’s job. After all, there’s another Boveda waiting in line to take its place.Tip: To avoid running out of Boveda, subscribe to the Subscription program to have future orders automatically delivered to you. How many Boveda do I need for my cigar humidor?
It’s the capacity of the cigar humidor that determines how many Boveda you use. (In other words, how many cigars the manufacturer said your humidor can hold.)Click on this link for the pop-up Boveda Humidor Calculator. It figures out how many cigar humidity packs your humidor takes for you, and then can add them to your cart. Swift! Or use this chart as a guide. Remember, Boveda will never over-humidify beyond the stated percentage on its respective pack. Using more packs or a larger Boveda than is recommended on the chart is totally fine. Your Boveda will last longer that way.

How do I store Boveda that I’m not using?
Store Boveda in a dry place at room temperature. A new pack has a two-year shelf life in its original packaging.
If you bought an individual Boveda pack, it is sealed inside a clear protective overwrap. Don’t remove the overwrap until you’re ready to use each Boveda. If you ordered a multi-pack of Boveda, these unwrapped Boveda were shipped in a resealable bag. After you remove a Boveda, gently squeeze out any excess air from the top of the bag before carefully re-zipping or refolding it closed every time.If you already discarded the original packaging, no worries. Simply store your Boveda in an airtight container that has a strong moisture seal, like a Tupperware® or Ziploc® container. Everyone’s got some of those.
How do I calibrate my hygrometer?
You’re looking to monitor your moisture. Good move. Maintaining appropriate RH levels is fundamental to caring for and preserving a cigar collection.Watch the step-by-step video below to learn how to calibrate your hygrometer. Here are the directions, so you can follow along:
- Using the Boveda One-Step Hygrometer Calibration Kit, place your hygrometer inside the bag and close the seal.
- Let the hygrometer sit in the Calibration Kit for at least 24 hours at room temperature (65 to 75°F/19.5 to 23.5°C).
- Your hygrometer should read the same RH% level stated on the kit (either 32% or 75%). It’s possible that there’s a slight difference—just note it for future readings. If your hygrometer is adjustable, make the adjustment. Reusing the kit, recalibrate the hygrometer to make sure this new reading is accurate.
When do I replace my Boveda?
Depending on your container and its surrounding environment, you can expect Boveda to last from 2 to 6 months. Please do not try to re-activate your Boveda by submerging it in water or distilled water. Doing this will destroy the Boveda pack’s ability to provide precise humidity and may expose your cannabis/hemp to unhealthy humidity levels.TIP:Write the date on new Bovedato remind you when it’s time to switch it out. Or do the touch test to determine when it’s time to replace your Boveda:WHEN BOVEDA IS KEPT AT ROOM TEMPERATUREBoveda is still working if you feel:
- Hardening at its corners
- Soft spots among some hard areas
Boveda is expired if it feels:
- Rock solid all the way through (Don’t wait until Boveda gets rock hard before you replace it, you might start to lose those precious terps.)
WHEN BOVEDA IS KEPT BELOW ROOM TEMPERATUREBoveda can feel cold and rock hard:
- Let it warm up to room temperature and repeat the touch test.
- If your Boveda is now pliable and it feels like thick jelly or dense clay, Boveda is still working—the temperature change won’t impact the performance, effectiveness or shelf life of the 2-way humidity control.
